We Are The Theatre of the Global Majority round-table (off-site)

Join ActNow Associate Director Yasmin Gurreeboo and other ActNow artists of colour for a supportive round-table discussion about being culturally diverse artists in the Adelaide Fringe and beyond. Attendance at this event is for people of colour only.

Beyond the round-table, contact ActNow to find out about special Theatre of the Global sessions during the Adelaide Fringe. A fortnightly workshop series, Theatre of the Global Majority recognises non-white people make up the biggest population of people in the world – and the Australian arts scene needs to hold up their voices.

Virtual Intimacy (虛擬親密) Community Workshop
Feb

6:00 PM18:00

Virtual Intimacy (虛擬親密) Community Workshop

ActNow Theatre (Australia) and Very Theatre (Taiwan) are working on a new collaboration exploring queer virtual intimacy. Virtual Intimacy is an interactive performance using theatre and live film to explore the ways queer communities develop and interact online and through mobile phone apps, being developed in collaboration with queer community in Australia and Taiwan. It will premier in 2020 in partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne's Asia TOPA and the National Theatre of Taiwan. Virtual Intimacy builds on previous work by Chou Tung Yen (Looking For? documentary) and Edwin Kemp Attrill (Zero Feet Away, interactive performance).

We are looking for queer community members to take part in a workshop to share stories. We especially want to hear from people who are queer and any of the following;
Are from Taiwan, China or are Mandarin speakers
Have had long distance relationships, or relationships predominantly mediated through technology
Use dating apps regularly
Are in a relationship with someone from an Asian cultural background
Are from any cultural background interested in participating in a cross cultural theatre/film project

The workshop will be delivered in English with Mandarin translation. Participants will take part in a series of games, discussions, storytelling activities. There will be video documentation during the workshops. No experience necessary.
